Do I need a phone contract to buy an Ipad 2?

Question by Matt Baca: Do I want a telephone contract to acquire an Ipad 2?
I'm thinking of purchasing an Ipad two, but I saw that you need to have a contract or something of that sort in oder to acquire it. Is there an Ipad two that i can purchase usually, like an Ipod Touch?
