In the storage specs of ASUS Transformer, it is mentioned as EMMC hard drive whereas iPad has flash storage. What is the difference between these?

The Asus Transformer runs on flash storage in the exact same way the iPad does, I feel what you are referring to is the expandable storage. The Transformer's expandable storage is compatible with MMC (MultiMediaCard) memory cards. eMMC is related but also a thing else entirely, which will not be discussed in depth.
Notable features:
- MMC's have a maximum capacity of 4GB
- The Transformer need to be docked in order to insert the MMC
- MMC is flash based, so it is not a tough drive in itself.
