Please explain the input power specs to me!!!!?

iPad adapter specs: Input: 100-240V~ .45A (.45A) 50-60Hz Output: five.1V-----two.1A
I realize what all of the above mean even so I am unsure what the existing reading among brackets following the present rating to the left of that indicates. Please aid me.
